After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will begin your scenic journey to Volcanoes National Park, home to the rare mountain gorillas and one of Africa’s most remarkable conservation destinations. Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park

Early in the morning, you will enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced park rangers on the guidelines and expectations for gorilla trekking. You will then be allocated to a gorilla family group and begin your unforgettable journey into the lush rainforest of Volcanoes National Park.

The trek takes you through bamboo forests, volcanic slopes, and dense vegetation while surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the sounds of the forest. Trekking duration can range from 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family. Along the trail, your guide will share insights about the ecosystem, birdlife, medicinal plants, and conservation efforts protecting these endangered primates.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Uganda

After an early breakfast, you will return to Volcanoes National Park for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. Following a briefing by park rangers, you will set off into the bamboo forests in search of the rare and playful golden monkeys, a unique primate species found within the Virunga Mountain ranges.

The trek is generally less strenuous than gorilla trekking and offers excellent opportunities to observe these energetic primates jumping through the bamboo vegetation, feeding, and interacting within their natural habitat. The experience also allows you to enjoy the beautiful forest scenery, birdlife, and panoramic volcanic landscapes.

After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and refreshment before beginning your cross-border journey into Uganda. You will drive through the scenic highlands and rolling hills towards southwestern Uganda, enjoying breathtaking countryside views and local community life along the way.

Day 7: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head out for an exciting sunrise game drive through the vast savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This remarkable wildlife experience offers opportunities to spot a wide variety of animals in their natural habitat including elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, and, with some luck, leopards.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Walk

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the briefing point at Kibale National Park headquarters where experienced rangers will guide you through the rules and expectations for chimpanzee tracking. You will then begin your forest adventure into one of Africa’s richest primate habitats.

The chimpanzee tracking experience takes you deep into the tropical rainforest, where you may also encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, Lhotse’s monkeys, and a variety of bird species. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, groom, communicate, and swing through the forest canopy offering a rare and intimate wildlife experience.

Day 11: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park

After an early breakfast, you will set out for a morning game drive across the vast savannah plains of Murchison Falls National Park. This park offers one of Uganda’s richest wildlife experiences, with opportunities to encounter elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, hyenas, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat.

The game drive takes you through different wildlife tracks and scenic viewpoints, offering excellent photography moments and close encounters with the “Big Five” species present in the park. Day 12: Top of the Falls Experience and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After an early breakfast, you will visit the spectacular top of the mighty Murchison Falls, where the world’s longest river, the Nile, is forced through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging dramatically into the river below. From the viewpoints, you will witness the raw power of nature as water roars through the rocks, creating mist, thunderous sound, and unforgettable photographic scenery.

You will enjoy a guided walk along the top of the falls, learning about the geological formation, history, and surrounding ecosystem while taking in panoramic views of the Nile and surrounding landscapes.

After this experience, you will begin your journey southwards with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos are protected and bred in a natural environment. Upon arrival, you will join experienced ranger guides for a guided rhino tracking experience on foot. After an early breakfast, you will return to Volcanoes National Park for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. Day 12: Top of the Falls Experience and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After an early breakfast, you will visit the spectacular top of the mighty Murchison Falls, where the world’s longest river, the Nile, is forced through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging dramatically into the river below. From the viewpoints, you will witness the raw power of nature as water roars through the rocks, creating mist, thunderous sound, and unforgettable photographic scenery.

You will enjoy a guided walk along the top of the falls, learning about the geological formation, history, and surrounding ecosystem while taking in panoramic views of the Nile and surrounding landscapes.

After this experience, you will begin your journey southwards with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos are protected and bred in a natural environment.
